Antarctica, Argentina, Uruguay, and Brazil

Three Countries, Two Rivers, and Heading Home

The next morning—my last in South America before heading home—we had enough time to visit an overlook of the confluence of the Iguazú and Paraná Rivers, where the borders of Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay come together at a single point.

After that, it was a short ride to the Puerto Iguazú airport, then a couple of hour’s plane ride to Buenos Aires, and from there a long plane ride back home.

This trip was terrific. Antarctica was so far beyond my expectations—I can’t begin to describe what a fantastic, extraordinary, other-worldly place it is. And Argentina was so warm and welcoming, I wouldn’t hesitate for a moment to visit there again. But every trip ends. On the way home, I fell asleep over Bolivia, still feeling the vibe of South America. When I awoke, I was over Florida, and that was when the trip felt like it was over. But that only means it’s time to start dreaming about the next one!

Here are a couple of final photos:

The next morning, before heading to the airport and our flight back to Buenos Aires, we visited an overlook—El Hito Tres Fronteras—to see the confluence of the Iguazú and Paraná rivers. In the very center of that confluence is the point where the borders of Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay all meet, hence the name of the overlook—it’s the Three Borders Landmark in English.

At El Hito Tres Fronteras, before we all flew off on our separate ways home, I took the opportunity to take an impromptu shot of the Sail with Seth gang. Seth did his usual terrific job of putting this adventure together—many thanks and kudos to Seth. And I’m happy that I came to consider the people in this photo friends and would enjoy joining them again on a future Sail with Seth adventure.

And that was my Antarctica/South America Adventure, a journey I will never forget!
